About Me

Hello! My name is Mateus. I work with people who are struggling to overcome the hurdles in their lives and help them process what’s happening, discover their footing, and support them on their climb towards where they’d like to be. I help people discover themselves and learn how to go after what they want in life and so they can go on living more enriching and fulfilling lives.

I am an educator, certified wellness counselor, certified life coach, and ADHD coach.

Check out my services below and see if one of them might be a good fit for you.

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil then adopted when I was four to live with my parents in Columbus, Ohio. My time in Brazil, while short, left me with PTSD and C-PTSD and at the age of six, I was diagnosed with ADHD. This had a big impact on my life and over time I learned to process, heal, and build strategies to be able to go from surviving to thriving. Because of what I have endured, I’ve always connected with helping people who were struggling to make sense of their lives and I’ve strived to do everything I can to help them as much as I could.

I’ve been interested in how the mind works and what makes people tick and from my first psychology class in high school, I knew the path for me was to become a counselor. After high school, I completed the Ohio State University Psychology program and started my career with helping individuals struggling with addiction and chemical dependency. I also volunteered with the suicide prevention services for 4 years in Columbus where I worked as an intern and on the suicide hotline talking to people in crisis. After my initial schooling I went back to school to became a certified wellness counselor, certified life skills coach and ADHD coach. Through my practice I am able to help people overcome hurdles by exploring who they are and what they want and building systems and strategies to surmount those difficulties.

When I’m not helping my clients, I can usually be found walking through nature, playing guitar, making movies, talking with friends, cooking, or watching films.

My practice does not discriminate and welcomes people from the neurodiverse and LGBTQ+ communities. If you are suffering through economic struggles but still need help, send me an e-mail and let me know what’s going on – there’s a good chance we can work something out.
